My Story
MY HISTORYI began my drum studies with Paul Sears in 1974, before moving to New York City. It was there that I met Stephen Bray and Madonna, and later performed in the group "The Same", with Bray, Stanley Adler, Carter Burwell, Chip Johanssen, Clodagh Simonds and Brian Eno.
After inventing my digital percussion controller "The Drummstick", and later the Zendrum, I would go on to perform with Bon Lozago, Bill Kirchen, John Wubbenhorst, Howard Levy, Michael Manring, Trey Gunn, Fareed Haque, David Diamond and many other legendary musicians in jazz, pop, blues, and world music. |
MY INFLUENCESWhen it comes to drums and percussion, I've been greatly influenced by "open-handed" drummers like myself, including Billy Cobham, Lenny White, and Simon Phillips. Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, Bill Bruford and Roy "Futureman" Wooten have also had a major impact on my development as a musician. World percussionists like Trilok Gurtu, Zakir Hussain, Selvaganesh Vinyakram and Pete Lockett are also among my favorites.

MY DREAMSI strive to grow, learn, and push the boundaries of musical and artistic creativity; To make spirits dance and to quote Henry Kaiser, "To work with musicians that I like, love and trust."
